We had a very busy and fun summer holidays with lots of exciting activities. We ran three Family Fun Days – at the first we had a fun RockBox activity provided by Workout with Mika. Children had a great time dancing, drumming and boxing to rock music. The group also used their drumsticks to make different rhythms on some of our outdoor play equipment!

At our second Family Fun Day we had a super time learning circus skills led by Andrew Van Buren from the Philip Astley Centre. Families had a go at plate spinning, juggling, hula hooping, and spinning Diabolos. Andrew also put on a performance for us and rode around on his 5-foot-high Unicycle!

The Farm on Wheels came to our third Family Fun Day and the families had a great time feeding the donkey, taking the goats for a walk and holding the chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs.

We also had lots of fun at our numerous weekly Family Sessions for young people of all ages and sessions specifically for children aged from 0 to 5 years old. Children had the chance to play on all our outdoor equipment, play in our soft play area, ride bikes, play in our water tray, do craft activities and to explore freely in our secure outdoor space. One parent, who attended our sessions for 0 to 5 year olds, said on the last week, “Thank you Our Space, you saved our summer”.

As well as our younger members, our older members made the most of the summer too. Friday Club went on an evening trip to Apedale Country Park for a walk and mini picnic. We got caught in a heavy rain storm just as we set off on our walk, but fortunately it didn’t last long and we were able to enjoy the summer evening and beautiful scenery. It was lovely to get out and about!

Thank you to everyone who came along to any of our summer sessions, we have made some lovely memories together!
